Wizz Air has rolled out major updates to its popular Wizz Discount Club (WDC) program, effective today. Travelers will now face higher ticket price thresholds to access discounts, along with increased membership fees. While these changes make it costlier to benefit from the program, Wizz Air is also adding new perks in an effort to balance the impact and enhance the overall value for frequent flyers.
Effective April 29, the €10 discount for WDC members will now only apply to tickets priced at €29.99 or higher, up from the previous threshold of €19.99. This means that cheaper tickets, which were previously eligible for the discount, will no longer qualify. Wizz Air stated that this adjustment is necessary to “continue providing high-quality services and maintain the exceptional standards you expect from us.”
In addition to the new ticket price threshold, the annual fee for the standard WDC membership (covering the subscriber and one companion) has increased by €20, rising from €39.99 to €59.99. The group membership, WDC Standard Plus, which allows up to five companions, has also seen a price hike, now costing €99.99 per year-an increase of €30.
The prices for the premium tiers remain unchanged. The WDC Premium membership, which includes discounts on flights and checked baggage, two pieces of cabin baggage, priority boarding, and unlimited seat selection (including premium seats) for the member and one companion, still costs €349.99 per year. The WDC Premium Plus package, which extends these benefits to four companions, remains at €384.99 per year.
To offset the less favorable terms, Wizz Air is rolling out new benefits for WDC members. These include exclusive ticket promotions available only to club members, personalized offers (such as birthday discounts), and priority customer service for those with questions or who wish to modify their reservations.
Wizz Air has notified members that these changes to the program’s terms and conditions provide grounds for canceling their membership and receiving a refund for the remaining period. Members who wish to opt out must contact the Wizz Air Call Centre by May 13. After this date, the airline will assume acceptance of the new terms.
